Inspired Do It Yourself Halloween decorations for all ages!

Create some inspired Halloween atmosphere with these fun ideas. Projects for moms and kids both and on any budget....Have a great time creating!

Some of my own DIY projects are included....hope you like them:)

A few tips:

1.)There are tons of black Halloween silhouettes that can be printed for free off the internet.
2.) Look around your house before you go shopping. Sometimes every day items can be grouped with a simple things like a black bird, spider or cob webs.
3.) For a vintage look print vintage Halloween cards (for free) off the internet, add a little sparkle around the edges and your set.
4.) Using brown paper bags and newsprint are great materials to start with.
5.) If you do go shopping go to your local dollar store and thrift shops first.
6.) Check the dollar section at Michael's before you go crazy in the store. I found great adhesive crystals that I used on my pumpkins.

Simple silhouettes on sticks, great as place cards or decoration

Glitter yourself or buy glitter crap paper, print some vintage cards (for free) from the internet and then add embellishment to finish off....or use black and white pictures of your kids or self in Halloween costumes...so many ideas!

A great one for kids! Milk jugs, construction paper and white lights...

Add cobwebs and spiders to a jar and add a battery tea light
(cobwebs with spiders and a pack of 4 tea lights are $1 ea at Dollar Tree)

Cute spiders...mini pumpkins, tea lights and pipe cleaners
(Pipe cleaners and tea lights $1 ea at Dollar Tree)

Cover cans with craft paper, wrapping paper etc...mixing patterns really adds to the look

Cover foam pumpkins with news print or pages from old books
(foam pumpkins and moss $1 ea at Dollar Tree)

Oooo Creepy! Spray paint a cheap vase or a grapevine wreath black, add spiders and snakes for this creepy look.
(most dollar stores have snakes you can paint and all craft stores have the grapevine wreaths...and I bet you have an old vase in your cupboard that can be sprayed black.)

Another great one for the kiddos! Cover the inside of the jars with tissue or paint, add faces and your ready to go. Adding a battery tea light to each will give you a great effect at night.

O!
Spray a soda can, add webs and face with a sharpie....Make a bunch and hang them from a tree by the tab for a fun look.

Cute for a grown up party

How easy...spray the inside white (lightly cover so the light will come through) and paint the faces, add a tea light and how cute! Your guests could take one home with them.
(these little glass vases can be found at most dollar stores or hit a thrift store for an even better price. They don't all have to be the same size and shape....or check your cupboards you might just have some)

Such and easy one for kids! Balloons and a sharpie...or use white for ghosts and orange for pumpkins.
I bet you could find glow in the dark balloons at the party store but I have not looked for them.

Add a black paper ghost to any mirror to really add to the Halloween look in your house.

Cover an existing picture on your wall with foil and add eyes for this great look....or just add the eyes to a mirror.

This cute one doesn't even needs directions...be creative!

Paint some glass and add tea lights...if you can find tea light holders with a rim, add wire and hang from branches. The crock of mini pumpkins would be cute just by themselves. It wouldn't take much to create this great look in your home.

Print some great Halloween titles and cover your books for this fun look.

Here is one of my own...I wanted an old leathery looking spell book and this is how it turned out.

I used a paper mache book for the shape (Michael's). I cut up a brown paper bag, wadded it up to get the wrinkles. I used light touches of craft paint black, brown and peach to create the leather look. I then printed a picture from the internet and cut out the swirls. I added glittered chipboards to the center that I already had. Covered it all in modge podge and it came out really cool. Looks even better in person.

Collect some rocks, spray paint them and add stickers. Group them for the best look. Another good idea for party favors that your guests can take home.

The ornaments are simple paper tags with printed pictures from the internet. You could also use stickers or chip board pictures from the craft store. Lots of them for Halloween right now. I also LOVE adding the masks to the pumpkins!
This is a really easy look, and everyone will think your so clever.

These can be no sew or if you like to sew that is great too.
Gets some great fabric, I love the velvet look, stuff them with whatever you have. Bind the top with a rubber band and fold to make the stem. Add a bow and you are done.

I adore this witch hat. You can start with a paper mache witch hat or simply use wrinkled brown paper bags and make your own. Paint to look like old leather (like I did for my spell book) and add the embellishments. I suggest covering with modge podge to make the paper stiff.

Here is another one that doesn't need directions. So cute!

Simply adding black birds and a few feathers give this tree a great Halloween look.
(black birds are $1 at Dollar Tree)

Having a kids Halloween party? These are so easy and the kids could help!

Cover wood blocks with your printed designs, stickers etc.... I found bottle stickers at the dollar store that would be great too.
(12 stickers for $1 at 99 Cents Store.)

Add some black silhouettes to your lamp shades...Please make sure that they are not near the bulb though!!

This is another one where you can use something you already have. Layer stickers to your existing glass candle holder.
How easy and cute is that?

Another super easy grouping. Adding branches to a vase with the black bird really makes the look.

Let the kids imagination go crazy with some creepy toys (dollar store again), jars and food coloring.

I just love this giant candy corn!! Add some yellow and white paint to the orange street cone and you are done.
(The cones can be found at the home improvement stores for around $5 depending upon the size)

Add some stickers, candy and surround them with rustic pieces for this very cool look.

Craft paint added to glass candle holders. So easy because it does not need to look perfect. Add your candle and moss and the look is complete.

Bling up your existing glass... add stickers, feathers, crystals etc. Go crazy and you will have a great display.
Wine glasses can be used if you don't have other glass candle holders.

This is a great example of grouping things you already have, add a spider, a skull, some moss and you have this awesome creepy display for your mantel.
(thrift stores and yard sales are a great place to get old books if you don't already have them)

Check out your garden center, paint the base orange and create your own pumpkin chia pet.

Food coloring in some water, candles, spiders...nothing more needs to be said except so cool.

Turn your jars upside down, and let your imagination run wild.

Ok... here are some of my own DIY creations.
(Sorry about the picture quality they came out a little grainy)

I covered this foam pumpkin with orange patterned tissue paper and modge podge. I first spray painted the pumpkin white so the orange wouldn't show through the tissue. Added a touch of black paint for the stem.
($1 foam pumpkins at Dollar Tree)

I painted this foam pumpkin black and added crystals from the dollar section at Michael's. It looks very cool and blingy next to my glass candle holders. And yes another Dollar Tree foam pumpkin.

I made these for a friend who LOVES shoes! The letters are glittered chipboard that I already had. I painted the pumpkin black.
The mini is from the dollar store as well and already had a shimmer look. I added the shoe crystal ($1 at Michaels) and the pair came out adorable.

Again painted the foam pumpkin black and added the glittered chip board that I already had. Turned out really pretty.

Like my skull? I covered a paper mache skull with patterned tissue and modge podge. It came out really cool. Another one that looks even better in person:)

Same thing, covered with patterned tissue strips and modge podge.

I found this newsprint bird, already in this shape on the internet. I just printed it and cut it out and taped it to the platter. I have it on a glass shelf with apothacary jars but set it on the table to get a better picture.

I added a piece of Halloween scrapbook paper to a frame and taped this (dollar store) black glittered candelabra to the outside. It turned out really cute and I was able to get a great look for $1.50.

Now get going and be INSPIRED!
